Past/Future AR Binoculars

Our unique, handcrafted augmented reality binoculars invite anyone to see the story of their surroundings; the past, present and future.

In the latest reincarnation of our custom Google Cardboard format, we handcrafted a beautiful set of binoculars which can be set up to show a relevant experience in any location. With its’ origins in Calvium’s Ideascape placemaking event at Porth Teigr, our AR Binoculars are powered by a custom configuration including Arduino board, potentiometers, bluetooth module and smartphone.

Compared with the often awkward and intimidating VR and MR headsets available at the moment, our augmented binoculars extend an enticing invitation to everyone; with a classic design that references vintage coin-operated binoculars, and fun, chunky physical controls.

When they’re not attending events, our augmented reality binoculars now spend most of their time looking out of the Zubr studio’s window onto Marsh Street, in Bristol.
