Making waves in the medical sector
Interactive AR installation for medical convention
Zubr partnered with a major pharmaceutical company to create an interactive AR medical showcase installation designed to communicate the challenges of living with diabetes. The experience offered a powerful visual metaphor – swimming through shark infested waters – to highlight the risks faced by those managing the condition.
Partners
We partnered with a global pharmaceutical giant, specialising in diabetes care. Their goal was to communicate the value of their product in a memorable, emotionally resonant way during a high profile medical convention.
Zubr are well practiced at working within a range of sectors, including industries that require innovative marketing solutions. With a shared focus on innovation and impact, Zubr brought the experience to life through cutting-edge AR technology and bespoke physical modelling.
A digital splash
The final installation invited users to select from a set of avatars, each representing different lifestyles and factors that affect diabetes management. Once chosen, the swimmer dove into a virtual pool. A quiz about our client’s product began, with each correct answer propelling the swimmer forward. Meanwhile, virtual sharks loomed on either side of the avatar’s lane, serving as a striking metaphor for the risks of mismanaging diabetes.
The goal was to transform complex medical messaging into a relatable, interactive experience. Rather than relying on passive brochures or presentations, we created a story-driven activity that put participants into the shoes of those living with diabetes – deepening their understanding of how our client’s product can help navigate that journey.
Transforming physical models into 3D
Enhancing the tradeshow experience, we designed dimensional digital models of the avatars in a character creator software, before 3D-printing physical counterparts. These hand-painted figures were integrated into a striking physical diorama, showing the swimmers poised ahead of seven shimmering lanes of water set against a rocky shoreline.
The physical model, produced by LiiM Fabrication Design House, added a tactile dimension to the digital journey.
Drowning in interest
Augmented reality creates space for interaction, invoking memorable emotional responses to the products on display. AR users can navigate the complex material at their own pace, in an unintimidating, gamified format. This is something traditional convention booths often lack.
The blend of tactile models and digital animation drew attention throughout the convention, turning passive observers into active participants. Zubr’s collaboration delivered a standout tradeshow experience, combining immersive AR, meaningful metaphor, and handcrafted design into a memorable product encounter.
